Established on 01 JUNE 2018, TRUM AFRICA LIMITED, fondly known as TRUM, stands as a beacon in the insurance industry.

Registered as a Category One Global Business Company in Mauritius, we operate under an Insurance Agent license, approved by the Mauritian Financial Services Commission. Our reach extends beyond Mauritius, with TRUM registered as a foreign FSP (financial service provider) in South Africa, ensuring our presence in both Africa and South Africa.

Our business thrives on our association with Lloyds of London, leveraging their proven track record.

Our team, a blend of experience and expertise, operates from Mauritius for Africa (excluding South Africa) and Durban for South African business. With a focus on delivering top-notch administration and accounting services, our industry professionals bring considerable experience to the table. Proudly, TRUM is a part of FEG’s Corporate Governance program.

Objectives for 2023 and Beyond:

Evolve into a Multiline ‘Super’ UMA structure, offering a plethora of commercial lines insurance products.
Expand our geographical reach to Southern Africa, East Africa, and the Indian Ocean Islands.
Cater to a wide clientele including consumers, insurance brokers, insurers, reinsurers, and reinsurance brokers.
Offer covers in multiple currencies, especially USD, while ensuring a robust legal infrastructure.
Develop key partnerships with a maximum of 5 insurer partners.
Achieve an annual recurring premium of ZAR500Million or more.
Launch a Mauritian-based risk-taking vehicle.
Introduce a purpose-built IT system and HR base to support our objectives.

With 20 years of multi-class, commercial underwriting experience across Africa, Carla manages group binders and key relationships with insurers. Whilst balancing quality products and sustainable premiums, Carla contributes to the industry’s growth.

With 24 years of insurance experience, Leanne heads up various binders through Lloyd’s of London. Her qualifications and leadership skills make her instrumental in managing diverse insurance portfolios.

With 23 years of experience, Vishwani is a self-motivated individual committed to success. Her skills include strong analytical abilities, reliability, and handling confidential information. Vish manages the Cape and Coastal portfolios, specializing in risk profiling, analysis, premium determination, and client retention.

Janisha Govender

With 24 years of diverse experience, Janisha excels in commercial underwriting within the African insurance market. Holding qualifications in FAIS and FETC, Janisha specializes in new business quotations, risk profiling, analysis, policy renewals, client retention, and premium determination.

James Rawdon

With 17 years in the insurance industry, James transitioned from the tourism/ hospitality industry to oversee the wildlife binder with Lloyds of London. His unique background adds depth to his role in the safari and tourism sector.

Vusi Sibiya

With 25 years in the insurance market, Vusi applies commercial underwriting experience to oversee binders at Lloyds of London and A-rated local insurers.

Tarren Gibson

With 12 years’ experience, Tarren holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Certificate in short-term insurance. She specializes in commercial underwriting.

Shantal Moonsamy

With 17 years’ experience, Shantal provides technical assistance and guidance on policy underwriting. Detail-oriented and a critical thinker, she excels in analytical, computer, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Her ability to develop trusting relationships makes her excellent in securing the best terms for clients.

With 9 years’ experience, Anele holds a Bachelor of Science and NQF Level 4 in short-term insurance. Being organized and proactive, Anele contributes to claims registration, policy administration, and junior underwriting, displaying a team-player attitude.
